Problem Note 47139: The error "a value is required for the following prompts. . ." occurs when you create a selection-dependent group prompt for a SAS® Stored Process
When you create a selection-dependent group prompt for a SAS Stored Process, the following error might be generated:
a value is required for the following prompts:
<prompt name here>
The problem occurs when a prompt within the group that you create is set to Requires a non-blank value. To illustrate the problem, consider the following sample for SAS Stored Process prompts:
Sport - Selection Group
Baseball - Selection-dependent group (under "Sport" group)
Gloves - text prompt ( "Requires a non-blank value" checked)
Bats - text prompt ( "Requires a non-blank value" checked)
Soccer - Selection-dependent group (under "Sport" group)
Shoes - text prompt ( "Requires a non-blank value" checked)
Jerseys - text prompt ( "Requires a non-blank value" checked)
Suppose that you run the SAS Stored Process, select the following prompt values, and click Run:
Baseball
Gloves -> select a value for gloves
Bats -> select a value for bats
Because Gloves and Bats are both set to Requires a non-blank value, you might receive the following error message:
Message from webpage
A value is required for the following prompts:
Shoes
Jerseys
This error occurs only when you use a web browser to run the SAS Stored Process. The error does not occur when you run the SAS Stored Process from SAS® Enterprise Guide®.
